Bernwood Forest and Homefield Wood - 3 July 2014

A visit to two woods in Oxon for Purple Emperor, first of all Bernwood Forest then Homefield Wood. Unfortunately despite the temperature none were seen at either site and even White Admiral at Bernwood were relative scarce with only two seen, though at one location up to eight Silver-washed Fritillaries were on one single small clump of bramble with about 15 seen in all, though as the day got hotter them seemed to be less obvious. A marsh Tit was seen along with a Brown Hawker.

Homefield Wood was equally as quite, with only five Silver-washed Fritillaries in evidence, and nothing else out of the ordinary other than a single Painted Lady, either a migrant or local school release.
