We re-started garden ringing after someone had processed over 50 Starlings in theirs, plus at B&M store I found a cheap supply of fat blocks at 89p a throw, so with £10 worth, filled up the fat feeders and put the net up again. And the Starlings came went in and a few went out of their own accord, but in total we managed 34, not bad considering we were a couple of weeks behind, but as the month went on they became less frequent, and the squabbling over the two fat feeders became less and less.
We also had three juvenile Spotted Woodpeckers and an oddity for us despite they frequent adjacent gardens, a male House Sparrow. The Tits coming in, looked tatty with poor tails and a number weighing 1g less than last years juveniles, anothe rsing of a poor breeding season.
Totals: 64 (5)
Great Spotted Woodpecker - 4 (1)
Dunnock - 1
Blackbird - 0 (1)
Blue Tit - 21 (1)
Great Tit - 2
Jay -1
Starling - 34 (2)
House Sparrow - 1
