Hedgerley SP (Wapsley Wood landfill site) - 18th July 2021

A visit was made to see if any Southern Willow Emeralds had emerged, or to see if they were still even present at the site.

The public track has been relaid with hardcore and moved away from the fence line, but is far easier to walk along. The first pool was checked, then the 'Southern' pool without any success, and then the incinerator pool that was experiencing a Small Red Damselfly emergence with at least 50+ present. A return then to the 'Southern' pool for a moment looked as if the species was present, but it turned out to be a Willow Emerald, potentially a new species for the site.

Early four Ravens left the small wood by the pool, potentially a local family party.
