A late morning visit to see Beautiful Damselflies that are found at Fobney Island, and also see if any White-legged Damselflies were out. We managed a few Beautifuls but no White-leggeds. We also came across a population of Variable Damselflies, one area locally where a few are to be found along different sections of the Kennet and Avon canal. The usual common Damselflies were present as well, along with the first Emperor Dragonfly of the year, two Broad-bodied Chasers, three Four-spotted Chasers and three Hairy Dragonflies.
A single Dingy Skipper was seen, which potentially is a new Butterfly species for the site.
A round up of our bird ringing activities (all birds ringed under licence from the British Trust for Ornithology with schedule one authority where appropriate), birding trips and other wildlife sorties within the UK and whenever we get chance, elsewhere.
