Wraysbury GP - 3 September 2015

This was our last chance for a really big day at Wraysbury before leaving for Gedser, Denmark. We were joined by CHR, TOA, RJM, EW and PMW to erect a few extra nets than we have been using with smaller teams.

CL & DKL targetted finches on the access road while nets went up in the rides. An additional couple of nets were sited in a relatively open area to try for Swallow.

The record sheet ended on 178 new and 21 recaptured birds. Leading species was Goldfinch (40), with Blackcap (38) a close second. Swallow (24) and Linnet (13) are less regular captures for this site and were caught in decent numbers. The warbler passage appeared to have slowed somewhat.

Linnet 3JT

Singles of House Martin and Sand Martin helped raise the species total to 18 - and the Sand Martin was a first ever capture for the site.
