Gedser Fuglestation - 22 September 2015 ( A lull in the garden)

A much quieter session this morning with a brief cessation in operations due to a shower that forced us to take a pause from ringing until nets could be opened again.

The Robins (Rødhals) still made up the bulk of birds processed.

The observatory garden is a magnet to migrants due to the diversity of fruiting shrubs and trees that provide such excellent cover and feeding opportunities. There are plenty of hips, haws, fruit and seeds attractive to many migrating birds. Small insects are also abundant for the insectivorous visitors.

 A well sheltered net ride.
