Cyprus recovery - Information received BE40878 Reed Warbler

We have now received details of the Reed Warbler, picked up dead at Akrotiri Salt Lake, Cyprus on April 3rd, earlier this year. The bird bearing a ring issued under the Serbian ringing scheme had been ringed at Hajdukovo: Ludaško jezero. This site is close to the Northern border of the country, neighbouring Hungary.

The bird was aged as an adult, although it was not possible to sex the bird, when it was captured and ringed on 1st August 2013 and had no encounters other than the initial capture and our recovery. The recovery was 1689Km South East of where the bird had been ringed, and the bird was picked up after it had already successfully made four round trips between its breeding and wintering grounds.
