The first day where a morning start was possible, no rain, so at 9am we headed off to Dinas with Mike, plus Roger and Sue. Arriving we met by a Goosander flying across and a little while later a Tawny Owl in flight being pursued by the local passerine population. We first checked the boxes in the wet area by the main entrance and they went to those in the valley at the back of the reserve. Unfortunately my time with everyone else was curtained by losing my camera close focusing adaptor and spent my time forlornly hunting for it, eventually giving up and joining up with the rest as they were about to finish, to find Denise had lost her pliers, fortunately we were able to find them! Totals for the day were:
Pied Flycatcher - adult 3: pulli 47; re-traps - 14.
Redstart - pulli 6
Redstart pulli
Small Heath
After another brief attempt with Denise to locate the close focusing adaptor we gave up and headed off to Aberdaron to spend a night with Ian, via the Rhandirmyn village cafe and another two Goosanders on the river by the camp site as we left over the river bridge.
