Wraysbury GP - 3rd July 2019

We hadn't ringed at Wraysbury since the end of May. Our Cs have been once or twice and used some of the rides on C6, leaving others undisturbed for the month, but we were not prepared for the increase in bio-mass across the entire site. What was intended to be a joint ringing and maintenance session, turned into primarily maintenance as the only place where we could get nets up were the three runs where I did cutting back last time. Further to that, most of the paths were completely grown over and we spent time on these too, since there was evidence that at least two rides are being used as walkways while the paths are so overgrown. The thistles had grown to head height in some areas directly adjacent to the path. Considering we only had 120ft of nets up, perhaps 20 birds wasn't so bad.
